Yoga

Cynthia Voth & Joanna Bond return to help kids get in touch with their bodies, strengthen and relax their muscles, and develop coordination, focus and confidence. Each class will include sharing, breathing/centering (pranayama), postures (asana), games that incorporate the postures, and a closing relaxation. Yoga can be a fun exercise for kids. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat.
Be Bop Your Best! - Grade School Musical 2

Following last year’s fabulous performance of Grade School Musical 1, David Koch is back to work his theatrical magic with our students. Stories and scenes inspired by Westside students with music by award-winning songwriter and performer, Red Grammer, directed by Westside parent and nationally known stage director, David Koch, and musical direction by award-winning actor and musician, Mark Anders.
Be-Bop Your Best is a high-energy revue of life at Westside with song sand scenes that focus on the real problems of our world… Wild haircuts, classroom pets, homework nightmares, kid-eating worm bins and even a visit by three superheroes!

Chess Club

Learn to play chess, or practice what you already know! Chess can strengthen problem solving skills, teach children to make difficult and abstract decisions and enhance math abilities, memory and critical thinking skills. The ever popular Elston Cloy (and former Washington State Youth Champion) returns to guide the chess class.

Ropeworks
Day and Time: Wednesday, 3:25-4:30pm

The Ropeworks after-school jump rope program incorporates a unique approach to teaching through a “smart sequencing” method of skill development, combined with a special focus on character education. Using the rope as a working metaphor for goal setting, best effort and avoiding comparisons with others, the rope is used as a lesson to convey positive messages.
Director Rene Bibaud, world rope jumping champion, artist and coach of Cirque Du Soleil and creator of Ropeworks, designs the curriculum, and classes are taught by Ropeworks certified staff.
Science Adventures
Day and Time: Thursday, 3:20-4:30pm

INVENTION DIMENSION
Pour in some science and then mix in some imagination. What do you get? Club Invention Dimension! Children discover and create amazing inventions. They launch a marshmallow across the room with a Medieval Lever, discover how the Wright Brothers conquered the sky, and build their very own motorized pen to become a certified “Ingenious Inventor!”
