Camp Present Moments
WHO?A summer camp for rising 6th, 7th and 8th grade Westside students and Mary and Lauren (your fearless leaders!)
WHERE? Westside School (current campus) and surrounding parks on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.On Tuesday and Thursday, we plan to take excursions to nearby mountains but pick-up and drop-off will always be at Westside.
WHAT? A week of exploring, creating and playing.The theme of the week is to embrace the present moment and find ways to fully engage, experience and awaken the senses.We will strengthen our mind and body with yoga and meditation; develop a sense of place with nature journaling and hiking; and express our creativity with watercolor art and knitting.No experience necessary in any of these things, just a willingness to try!
Sample day: on-campus
9:30 am: Arrive at Westside with lunch and snacks.
Guided meditation and yoga
Tea time with snacks and knitting
Sensory walk with journaling and a blindfolded experience.
Lunch in the park, with a guided eating meditation with different sweets!
Games
30- minute solo-sit for sense of place journaling.
Final circle and closing for the day.
3:30 pm: Get picked up.
Sample day: off-campus
9:30 am: Arrive at Westside with packed lunch, snacks and backpack.
Mini-road trip to Rattlesnake Ledge!
Morning hike with snack, meditation and journaling at top.
Lunch down at the lake.
Time to explore, play and be silly.
Yoga on the beach.
Drive back to Westside.

WHY? Because it will be awesome and FUN! And.... You will learn and practice tools that will help you to embrace each and every day, be healthy, manage stress and develop a deeper connection to your home, the magnificent Pacific Northwest.

WHO ARE LAUREN AND MARY?
Lauren Sherwonit is the 6th grade STEM teacher and also a Kripalu certified yoga instructor and a Wilderness First Responder.She loves sunshine, yoga, rock climbing, cooking and hiking.
Mary Kratz is the Middle School Spanish teacher who loves practicing yoga, knitting, tea parties and being outdoors.She is Wilderness First Aid and CPR certified.
Neither of these women are skilled with watercolor painting, but they do love being creative and finding different ways to capture the beauty and wonder of the world.

Summer Basketball Camp
Come for four days of skills, drills, and fun with coach and athletic director Mike Thomas. Camp is open to incoming 4th graders through incoming 7th graders. Camp hours are 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, Monday July 13 to Thursday July 16. Camp will take place in the gym at E.C. Hughes School building. All parents and campers must enter the building through the front door, but may check in for camp in the gym.
Westside is excited to offer a volleyball camp for incoming 4th through 7th graders. Camp will take place the week of July 6-9, from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Current 6th grade girls’ coach Stephanie Geiger, and athletic director Mike Thomas will be the camp directors. All experience and skill levels are welcome, and with two directors, we will be able to give quality individual and ability appropriate instruction to all campers. Camp will take place in the gym at E.C. Hughes School building. All parents and campers must enter the building through the front door, but may check in for camp in the gym.
