A Trip Through Latin America (Five Class Meetings)
Let’s put on our seatbelts and explore the wonderful countries of Latin America! On this fun trip, students will learn all about the capitals, locations, cultures, flags, native plants and animals, and foods of five Latin American countries. There will also be games, folklore, songs and a little Spanish language practice along the way. Come join Westside Spanish teacher Maria Brodahl for this adventure!
Open to new and returning students in grades Kindergarten through Fourth.

Ropeworks- Rope Jumping for Fun and Fitness (Five Class Meetings)
Students learn single rope skills, partner jump rope tricks, long rope games and double-dutch. Rene Bibaud, the creator of Ropeworks is a five-time world jump rope champion, artist and coach of Cirque du Soleil and a premier teacher in the art and sport of rope jumping. The program emphasizes a success-oriented approach to teaching rope jumping utilizing Rene's own smart sequencing method to help kids of all skill levels progress in a fun and motivating fashion. This program culminates with a performance for friends and family.

iPad Animation: Superheroes! (Six Class Meetings)
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! Its...Bionic Sweeper Guy? Create your own wacko superheroes to help save the day! Students will use iPads (provided by C.A.N.) to take animation photos, edit video/sound, and create unique music scores based on the class theme. Set, character and story construction will be taught while integrating subjects like math/science and visual/language arts. Chess Wizards (Six Class Meetings)
Students will participate in fun variation games, tournaments, lessons, and special matches, all while improving their creative problem-solving and analytical skills. Each class begins by dividing students into groups based on level of experience and ends with an exciting award ceremony. While informative, these sessions are not hyper-competitive, and the emphasis is always on the enjoyment and love of the game. Taught by Chess Wizards Instructors (www. chesswizards.com)

Cursive Club with Teacher Renee (Five Class Meetings)
An outmoded model of written expression, or a brainpower boost? Who knows! But it can be both FUN and BEAUTIFUL. Join Teacher Renee in this course to learn to enjoy and perfect the classy art of cursive writing.
Open to students in grades Third through Eighth.

Beat club! Percussion around the world! (Five Class Meetings)
Each week, led by Westside Teaching Assistant, Sam, students will focus on instruments, sounds, and rhythms from different countries and cultures. There will be games, drum circles, song writing, and even drum making too!
